Card Customization and Currency

In Pokémon TCG Pocket, players can enhance their cards with vibrant flair cosmetics, adding a new layer of customization for both display and gameplay. To customize your cards, you'll need two key resources: shinedust and duplicate cards.

Shinedust serves as the fundamental currency required to craft and apply different flair effects. You can earn shinedust through multiple methods, such as opening duplicate cards you already own, which grants a set amount of dust each time. Additionally, leveling up your cards costs shinedust—specifically, 50 dust per level-up—allowing you to strengthen your collection while earning cosmetic upgrades.

Furthermore, players can accumulate shinedust by completing various achievements within their profile, providing ongoing opportunities for customization. Participating in different events also offers chances to earn rewards, including shinedust, enabling a dynamic and engaging experience as you personalize your cards.

Whenever you acquire a duplicate of a card in TCG Pocket, you are rewarded with Shinedust proportional to that card's rarity level.

For example, obtaining a second copy of a card you already possess grants you a specific amount of Shinedust, which varies depending on how rare the card is.

In the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, customizing your cards with Flair is an engaging feature that enhances your collection's visual appeal. To create a flair, access the 'My Cards' menu where you'll need to select duplicates of a card—specifically, beyond the initial two copies—and gather shinedust, which varies based on the card's rarity.

Applying a flair is straightforward but must be done thoughtfully, as once set, flairs cannot be refunded. You can add flairs either when editing your deck or organizing your binder, focusing solely on cosmetic flair for aesthetic purposes.

There are two main types of flairs available:

  • Cosmetic Flairs: These are primarily for visual enhancement and are craftable for ◊ and select promotional cards. They provide a persistent effect on the card when stored in binders or displayed on boards. During battles, cosmetic flairs remain visible when swapping or attacking with the flaired card.
  • Battle Flairs: These are exclusive to Pokémon cards played in your deck. ◊ rarity Pokémon automatically receive at least one battle flair, while ☆ rarity Pokémon can have exclusive battle flairs. They activate when the Pokémon enters the field or gets swapped in or out during gameplay.

Flairs progress through four tiers. For ◊ rarity cards, players must unlock simpler recipes sequentially before accessing the more advanced ones. The initial cosmetic flair available is the Sparkles Flair: Gold, which appears most commonly, though some Pokémon types like Ultra Beasts may have different options. The subsequent flairs are unlocked based on the first pack opened at the start of the game.

For ☆ rarity Pokémon, recipe unlocking isn't mandatory in a specific order, allowing players to directly pursue the most prestigious flair. The first battle flair offered is the Tiny Twinkles Flair: Yellow, with variations possible for certain Pokémon types.

You can trade shinedust and duplicates of ☆ rarity cards for special shop tickets, which can be used for various exchanges within the game. However, trainer cards of ☆☆ rarity do not have flairs available, and promo cards have unique flair management tiers that depend on their undisclosed rarity.

Note that some Pokémon, such as Mew or Premium Pass Pikachu, are obtainable only once, so duplicates for flair recipes aren't necessary. Additionally, promo cards cannot be exchanged for special shop tickets, limiting their use in flair crafting.

Card Crafting and Progress

In the game, crafting a flair for a card involves creating duplicates beyond the initial two copies. For example, to fully craft a flair for a specific card, you need a total of five copies: the original two plus three additional duplicates. This system is designed to ensure players don't lose their entire collection of a playset when customizing cards.

If you choose to flair a card before gathering the necessary copies for a mission, it won’t hinder your progress. The game tracks the total number of each card you have ever collected, not just the current amount in your possession. Therefore, you can proceed to flair your Pokémon or Charizard even if you haven't yet reached the total required for a mission. There's no need to wait; your progress remains unaffected by when you decide to craft flairs.
